Top to Bottom and Left to Right

I am sure all pastellists will advise that starting at the top of the painting and, for right handed artists, left to right is important so that one’s hand, arm and elbow don’t smudge parts already down. If needed a Mahl stick or similar instrument could be used to rework any areas that are needed.
