Charcoal Image

In transferring images on to the paper I find that using charcoal gives me a great deal of flexibility. One can experiment with placing the elements on to the picture and rubbing out those not needed without spoiling the eventual painting. Shading the charcoal assists in getting the right tones and more importantly, when applying the pastels, the charcoal disappears.
