Summer Trees – Stage 8

I completed the picture by working on the water and the foreground.

To describe the reflections of the left hand tree I dragged marks down from the water’s edge, using the side of the pastel. Similar marks were made with the end of the pastel to describe the reflections of the tree trunks. I also strengthened the depth of the right hand bank at this stage and added the reflections of the right hand tree. Energetic strokes with a light pastel were then swept across the water to indicate highlights caused by movement on the surface.
