Light passing through the petals of a flower creates a translucent glow. Capturing this translucence is even more compelling when the petals have the appearance of subtle crinkles and folds found in a poppy. Pairing the delicate petals of a poppy with the rugged texture of a weathered fence was my goal when approaching this painting.
