Stage 7: Blocking in, beginning with the darks
I began with the darkest darks in the creases and in the shadows, using dark blue (Dark 18), creating marks with the side of the pastel. Special attention is made to the patterning of the wrinkles on the skin, with some areas creating a waffle-pattern of criss-crossed crevices. Because of the texture throughout the face, including some of the sunlit areas, I lightly dragged the dark blue into some of these areas as well.
