In this tutorial I am going to show you how to paint a red cardinal. I love this subject because it will contrast beautifully on a dark paper, and it is a real pleasure to work with the wonderful Unison Colour reds.
To give the bird a lot of vividness, we will bring orange pigments in the light areas. We will get some help from pastel pencils for the smallest details of the eye and the beak. Any brand of pastel pencils will work, mine is Faber Castell Pitt.
