Stage 5: Sketching the Image
Using the thumbnail design that I selected, I created a series of grid marks on tape that I put on a photocopy of the reference photo. This copy will not be used during the painting process since the colors are not accurate. However, I keep the photocopy handy to provide for periodic rechecking of the alignment and proportions of the drawing.
