Cat’s Eyes – Intro

CAT’S EYES INTRO

Some info on choice of pastels

I use a mix of Unison pastels and pastel pencils for my work to achieve my realistic paintings.

Unison Colour – these are perfect for under layers and getting vibrant colours.  They blend so easily and can be layered easily one on top of the other.

Stabilo Pastel Pencils – these are highlight pigmented, and work especially well on dark papers.  They are softer than Faber Castell Pitt pastel pencils, and easy to blend.  I use these to add the finer details

Faber Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils – these are harder than the Stabilo brand, which makes them excellent for very fine details, if that’s your thing.  Again highly pigmented and a good range of muted shades and earth tones.

Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper – this is a 360 gsm card surface with a velvety texture which can hold multiple layers of pastel.  For my piece I’ve selected the Sienna colour, a mid range tone which I particularly like for using for my animal portraits.
