Catch A Wave with Jeff Fioravanti

Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening to you my friends, family, and fellow artists near and far! My name, as it says on the marquee, is Jeff Fioravanti and I am a pastel artist from the United States. I would like to welcome all of you to the latest installment of “Pastel Academy” sponsored by our good friends and makers of some of the finest pastels available today, our favorite pastels: Unison Colour!

So, I have been asked to give you some info on how I create my pastel paintings. While I dabble in other mediums, pastel is my go to choice for creating finished works of art!

Understand, that art is not dependent on being created in a place other than in your heart. And so, while we may love to have a giant studio, one of the main things you can do to help create a successful painting is to paint something that touches your heart, that you love. Something that speaks to you! Figuring out what it is that attracts you to a certain scene, makes you love it! This will help you understand your world, your inner artist and your efforts will be reflected in the finished work of art. Remember, painting is communicating, so tell the world what you love, paint it, and share it!

Ok, so here we go. This might be a bit long, and I apologize for that. I can get a bit wordy. I am sure Unison was not expecting the second coming of Victor Hugo’s “Les Miserable” when asking me to write and share my painting process.
